Mokokchung, July 21 (DIPR): Nagaland Minister for School Education, Nyeiwang Konyak has announced that uniforms for Government Schools for both Primary and Middle School students will be provided shortly in the State. The Minister said this during Golden Jubilee celebration of Government Middle School, Longkhum in Mokokchung district on July 21.
Addressing the function as the Chief Guest, Nyeiwang Konyak said, issuing uniforms to students in Government Schools is part of government’s effort to re-vamp education system. He said the department of School Education has taken up massive exercise to ensure that Teachers are well trained and qualified. He however regretted that out of 9,000 (Nine Thousand) Teachers in the State in government schools, only 30 (thirty) per cent of them are trained and possessed required qualification. He said there will be no compromised with quality and all teachers should have required qualification such as Pre-Service Teachers Education, Diploma in Education, B. Ed, Etc.
On the issue of bogus teachers, the Minister said after three years of rigorous investigation into the case the department has almost succeeded to clear the mess. He said government is now on the job to redeploys those genuine teachers. Stating that revamping teaching-learning process not only lies with the government, Nyeiwang Konyak said it requires close cooperation of Village Education Committees and Village Authorities.
Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen in his speech challenged the Longkhum villagers to set their target to produce illustrious students and leaders as they have done in the past from this school in the next 25 years. He also thanked the Minister for School Education for instantly consenting to be chief guest on the occasion. The celebration was attended among others by Toshipokba MLA, senior officers from the School Education Department, district officials and the villagers.
