Tuensang, March 2 (MExN): George Kurian, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, was on a two-day visit to Tuensang district from March 1 to 2.
During his stay, Kurian visited Fish Farm Thimka in Tuensang Village and interacted with fish farmers. Mhomo Murry, DFO Tuensang, highlighted key concerns faced by the department, including poor road connectivity, infrastructure constraints and the need for more fishery ponds to improve yield. The DFO informed that there are more than 80 marginal fish farmers in and around the Thimka Fish Farm.
The Union Minister inspected the fishery pond and hatchery tank at the farm.
Kurian also visited District Hospital Tuensang and Parade Ground Tuensang. In the evening, he interacted with tribal leaders, civil society representatives and members of the BJP Tuensang unit.
