Union Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development, Government of India, Faggan Singh Kulaste was on a two-day visit to Mokokchung, Nagaland. He was in Mokokchung on February 14 and 15. The union Minister was accompanied by Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Government of Nagaland.
The purpose of the Union Minister’s visit was to interact with the people of Nagaland and review the progress of centrally sponsored schemes and development works in the state.
Kulaste visited Mopungchuket and Ungma village and also had a review meeting with the district officials of Mokokchung at the DC conference hall in the presence of Metsubo Jamir and Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji.
Kulaste expressed his satisfaction over the implementation and progress of the schemes and directed the DC to have a special attention to saturate the PMAY-G, Jal Jivan Mission, Aadhaar seeding of beneficiaries, etc.
While on his visit to Mopungchuket, Kulaste appreciated Mopungchuket village council for keepingour tradition alive through sculpture, museum and showcasing of various arts and crafts.
Faggan Singh Kulaste also interacted with the Self Help Groups of Ungma Village at Rural Assembly hall, Ungma, where members of the Ungma village council were also present. During the meeting, Kulsate stated that in 2014 around 2.31 crore members were associated with Self Help Groups in the country, but now 10 crores members connected with the 90 SHGs.
He further said that the government has announced in the recent budget to make lakhpadi Didi's from 2 crore to 3 crore. Sensing a concern for the marketing of products made by the SHGs, he directed the DC, Mokokchung to interact with the tribal minister or concerned department and other agencies to provide the proper platform for marketing of SHG's products.
He further said that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to connect more Didi's and empower them. The Union Minister inspected the exhibition of SHGs products and interacted with members of the SHGs about their products. The Union Minister ensured that he will talk with officials of central government for the marketing of their product. After completion of the visit, Kulaste flew to the Kohima.
