1. Tho-Tho Cattle:-

The humped pure black or skew bald cattle of Nagaland are domesticated for meat, milk, dung and for draught power. The cattle is distributed in Kohima , Phek and Zunheboto districts of Nagaland.

Some of the important features of Tho-Tho Cattle are :-

 Efficient conversion of low quality feed

 Tolerance to extreme weather condition

 Very hardy and resistance to diseases

 Good carcass quality

 Draught power

 Free range system without any supplementary feeding


2. Tenyi-Vo:-

It is a small pot bellied breed of pig with long stout, hairy and black in colour with elongated face and short ears. The pig is distributed in Kohima, Phek and Tuensang district of Nagaland.


Some of the important features of Tenyi-Vo are:-
 Can survive on scavenging locally available feeds
 Attain early maturity
 Fast farrowing and shorter inter farrowing intervals
 Resistance to diseases
 Meat is very tender and has less fat
 Large litter sizes


3. Long hair goat (Sumi-Ne)

Medium sized goat and thier coat colour is either white or jet black in general. The goat is distributed in Zunheboto, Tuensang and Kiphire districts of Nagaland.


Some of the important features of long hair goat (Sumi-Ne)
 Milk production around 1-1.5 litres/day
 Zero input with maximum output
 Free range system of rearing
 High carcass quality
 Silky long hair fibres used for making traditional head/tail gears
 Many cultural items like shawls, head band, earing, brasslete etc. are prepared from its hairs fibres.
