Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): Unity College, Dimapur observed its 18th freshers’ cum annual day at the college premises on July 19. Unity College Principal, Dr Lichumo Enie welcomed the freshers and encouraged to avail the facilities offered to envisage their growth and development beyond academics.
Rev Dr Wati Aier, Convenor of Forum for Naga Reconciliation and faculty member, Oriental Theological Seminary, addressed the students on the individual importance, the intrinsic connection between self-worth, identity and globalisation, and the need for an all-round renaissance subsuming every level of society. Dr Aier also felicitated the three Nagaland University subject toppers from the College and released the annual college journal and magazine.
A highlight of the programme was the unveiling of college motto “Innovate, Aspire, Excel” and the revamped college website by the college chairman, M Patton, Retired IAS Commissioner, Nagaland.
Speech on behalf of seniors and freshers were delivered by Tolo V Khulu, General Secretary, UCSC and Khyothungo R Humtsoe respectively.
The panel of judges for the Mr and Ms Fresher were Elijah Gangmei, Proprietor, House of Gangmei, Imlibenla Wati Nienu, Miss Super-Talent World Runner Up 2017, and Dr Tabassum Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Unity College. Sentimongba Jamir and Nounengunuo Kratsutsu won the title of Mr and Ms Fresher 2024.
