Unity College emerges champion of CoMFIESTA

Dimapur, September 26 (MExN): Unity College, Dimapur lifted the Overall Championship Trophy of the CoMFIESTA’19 while St. Joseph College (Autonomous) Jakhama were the runners up.

The 4th Edition CoMFIESTA’ 2019- Commerce and Management Fest was organized by the Department of Commerce and Management, Tetso College on September 25. 

The host College stated in a press release that altogether 14 schools and colleges from Dimapur and Kohima competed in various events. The inter-institute fest which was based on the tagline “Where Talent Meets” had a variety of performers and participants coming together to compete in events such as Traditional Dance Competition, I Can Speak, Contrakeenos, Dramatisement, Comfiesta’s Got Talent, Mobile Legends, Business Talkathon, Food Crafting and Sell it! Win it!

In the inaugural function, the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Hewasa Lorin, Vice-Principal, Tetso College. Apart from other factors, she said the development of a state rests largely on commerce. However, looking at the statistics in the NBSE HSSLC Exam 2019 for commerce stream only 1319 students appeared. Out of this only 985 passed of which 501 cleared in 1st division.

Highlighting on the slow growth trend low of students opting for commerce stream, Dr. Hewasa also emphasized on the need to address this issue by spreading more awareness. She also noted that organizing such fest will encourage and promote the growth of commerce and management stream.
