Dimapur, December 21 (MExN): The 3-day development fundraiser ‘1st United Colony Christmas Carnival 2025’ concluded on Sunday in a spectacular evening. The carnival featured a wide array of stalls including a varied selection of food, games, entertainment and performances from upcoming as well as renowned artists like Alobo Naga and Afrikan Amakshiu, Shujan De and many more.
The highlights of the evenings were Christmas Carol competition on Day 1 which was won by ‘Jolly & friends’ while the runners up was bagged by ‘The Clique’. Day 2 was marked by Talent Competition which was won by ‘Yimesen’ while the runners up was bagged by Moasenla. The prize pool money for each competition was Rs. 15,000.
Speaking on the final day’s program as Chief Patron, Ameto Peseyie, MD, Progressive Motors recalled the fond memories of the colony he had while growing up and being in a neighbouring locality but he also said these memories were accompanied by the painful reality of the suffering of the people, particularly the deplorable road and drainage conditions which had not been repaired for decades. Peseyie also acknowledged that the colony provides important arterial roads which are now serving as main roads in diverting traffic and easing traffic congestion and pleaded to the governemnt to take notice of the suffering of the people and the lack of basic amenities deserved by any colony. Peseyie also applauded the unity and strong leadership of the colony which was evident in the successful carnival and encouraged the residents to continue in a similar manner.
Addressing the program earlier as Special Guest for the evening, Kiyevi I Swu, Dy Director, Food & Civil Supplies said the true spirit of cooperation and unity as envisioned in the colony’s name has been wonderfully displayed before society in an exemplary manner through the excellent organization of the carnival. Reminding that as Christmas approaches, he urged the gathering to remember the Word of God in John 3:16 that God so loved us and gave his only son to die and redeem us from our sins. Swu further said the true essence of Christmas being love, he called upon the residents and the gathering to continue to love and uphold one another.
David Ngullie, Principal, AG School invoked God’s blessings while Chichano Ngullie Principal, GHSS, Athibung, delivered the welcome address. The hosts for the evening programs throughout the carnival were Moalemla Aier and Dr Kambo Arkha. Achiba Ozukum, Convener, Organizing Committee proposed the vote of thanks while the closing prayer was said by Kilang Pongen, Organizing Committee Member.
It may also be mentioned that the Chief Patron for the second day’s program was Lanuchuba Imchen, DMC Councillor, Ward-20 while Special Guest was Karen Yepthomi, Senior Principal, GHSS, United Colony.
The United Colony Council and the Organizing Committee of the carnival have expressed their profound gratitude to all the visitors who visited the carnival and made it a successful venture. They also expressed deep appreciation to all the stall owners, artists, participants, service providers, residents and supporting teams who rendered exemplary cooperation for the smooth conduct of the carnival.
