Unity FC emerges as Champions of Lobenkokba Memorial Morning Champions Cup

Kohima, October 5 (MExN): Debutant Unity FC has emerged as the Champions of the Lobenkokba Memorial Morning Champions Cup after defeating the last year winner Mustang FC 5-1 in the finals, at the IG Stadium, Kohima on October 4.


 A press note from the Burakum Ao, Administrator Morning Football Association (MFA) informed that the tournament started with preliminary group matches, followed by knockouts, from the quarter finals. 


Overall, 28 matches were played in the tournament which kicked off on September 2 with 10 teams. 


  Earlier, the 3rd place match was played between Kohima Raiders and All Blacks, where the former scored an emphatic 7-3 victory, to clinch the position. 


The organisers also expressed it appreciation to all those who contributed towards making the tournament a success. The MFA particularly acknowledged the contribution of Class of 1999-2000, Don Bosch Higher Secondary School, Kohima.


In must be noted here that from 4th edition this year, the erstwhile Morning Champions Cup was renamed as Lobenkokba Memorial Morning Champions Cup in memory of Late Lobenkokba, President of  MFA.
