
Zeliangrong Students’ Union Kohima holds 40th annual general conference
Kohima, September 25 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Veterinary & Animals Husbandry, S. Chuba Longkumer has stated that unity is a pre-requisite for any social development and that every tribe in Nagaland should work for unity.
Speaking at the 40th annual general conference of Zeliangrong Students’ Union Kohima here on September 24, he said Zeliangrong people should work even harder considering that the tribe is unique unlike others with its people spread out in the three states of Nagaland, Assam, and Manipur. He encouraged the Zeliangrong students stating that their strong unity will make Zeliangrong tribe stronger in particular and Nagaland in general.
“Zeliangrong people are the ambassadors of peace to all the three states,” he said. If they are truly united, he maintained, the voice of Zeliangrong student will be the most formidable in Nagaland and beyond.
The MLA further mentioned that “today we are in the midst of third revolution known as information revolution where knowledge is an important commodity, so people with quality education are the most powerful people.” He maintained that knowledge is the key factor in the information revolution, and this sharing of knowledge happens only when one acquires quality education.
“In the age of information technology, with ample information available and having access to many orientations, there are possibilities that the students can go astray unless they are focused and purpose driven,” he stated. Chuba further encouraged the students’ body to decide their career very carefully, to be honest in their approach, and keep moving towards their goal in positive aspect.
The conference, which was held under the banner ‘Unite for glory and wisdom’ at Capital Convention Hall, also had election for the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Kohima officials. Keyileurangbe was elected as the President, Bangdwa as Vice President, and Kawizaisi as General Secretary.
The students’ union also organized ‘Pageant Contest & Extravaganza’, where Kawichamliu and Liahing won the pageant contest. The panel of judges comprised of Amonbo, President, Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland and Pakinzinliu, Asst Prof., Tetso College, Dimapur. Meanwhile, the union also felicitated 14 meritorious students with certificate.
