
DIMAPUR, MAY 25 (MExN): The Unity Village Council has condemned what it termed as a “raid” conducted by the Vice President of NSCN/GPRN (Khango) on the residence the Finance Kilonser of the NSCN/GPRN (R) on May 23.
A press release fom the council said that such “reckless and unlawful act of gunfire has created a tense and hostile environment, thereby endangering the safety and security of the residents of Unity Village and whereas, such disturbing incidents of armed violence and gunfire have been occurring repeatedly in recent times, thereby disrupting public peace and harmony and posing a serious threat to the law and order situation within the Village.”
It passed a resolution that any Individual or member of any faction found in violation of the Ceasefire Ground Rules, specifically by carrying or possessing arms, fire arms, or ammunition within the territorial jurisdiction of Unity Village, shall face stern and immediate action.
The council also said that in the event of any such violation is committed; the Village Council shall impose a complete nodal and public boycott and adopt a policy of total non-cooperation towards the underground faction to which such individual is affiliated.
It further stated that any resident Individual of Unity Village who is found to be involved in or connected with such violent and disruptive activities, including firing of arms or any act of capable of creating public unrest, shall be expelled from the village without exception, and the land patta/ownership of the individual or of any person associated with the concerned faction shall stand cancelled, as per village customary laws and procedures.
The council added that the above-mentioned actions of the village council shall be independent of and without prejudice to any penal action that may be initiated by any competent law enforcement authorities under any of the applicable provisions of the law.
The council further resolved not to allow any faction to set up 'designated camp' within the territorial Jurisdiction of the Unity Village.
It appealed to all factions, individuals and organizations to respect the Ceasefire Agreements and the Ground Rules and to desist from engaging in any activities that may endanger public safety or disturb the peace of the Village.
