Upgradation of Skill (ToT) on civil defence & disaster management

Kohima, May 11 (MExN): The department of Civil Defence and Home Guards along with the active support of the Kohima Municipal Council is conducting the Upgradation of Skill (ToT) on civil defence and disaster management for selected volunteers from the municipal wards of Kohima Town. The three days programme that began today at the DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima is sponsored by the planning and coordination department. The training programme was inaugurated by SP Kohima R.P. Kikon, IPS, where Medo Pienyu, Deputy Controller of CD and District Commandant Home Guards Kohima chaired the inaugural programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Kikon stressed on the need to have proper coordination among the departments and the people in the grassroots who will be the responders during the disaster. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Akhu Kath, Junior Staff officer HQs. Day one programme focused on introduction of CD and disaster management, uses of ladders, ropes, knotting and lashing.
Day two programme on May 12 will feature warden services, earthquake, fire, uses of stretchers, stretcher lashings. On May 13, it would touch on landslide, cyclone, bandaging, use of blocks and tackles, construction of blocks and tackles, discussion etc.
