Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Tuensang on May 15 hosted an interactive session with Chubalemba B Chang, who achieved All India Rank 915 in the 2023 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. The event, held in the school auditorium, saw participation from teaching faculty and students from classes 9-12.
Chubalemba, an alumnus of GHSS Tuensang from the 2010-12 batch, shared his journey to success, emphasizing that it was marked by numerous failures. "My success story has many failures," he remarked, adding, "Success has many parents but failure is an orphan." He recalled being told that the school would either shape him for the best or the worst and noted that financial constraints prevented him from studying outside the town after matriculation.

During his speech, Chubalemba also addressed skepticism about his educational background. "Some people did not truly believe that I studied at this school," he said. "If I can persevere and achieve success, why can't you?"
Chubalemba's former teacher Jungdan, described him as a "shy, obedient, hardworking, and sincere student." She added, "Standing tall as a successful person through his efforts, he remains a testament to the potential of education and serves as an inspiration to many youngsters."
Vice Principal Apenro Khuvung, in her welcome note, emphasized the school's commitment to nurturing students and providing them with tools for success. "The idea behind organizing today's program was, yes, to acknowledge and celebrate the success of our past pupil, but we have also been highly driven by the desire to create a platform and opportunity for our students to witness and interact with a local hero. Because we believe that our students need role models and representation matters. As it encourages others to dream bigger," she said.
During the interactive session, hosted by Changsonla Chang, PGT, students asked Chubalemba various questions about his achievements and sought inspiration. He credited his parents for their unwavering support and for pushing him to strive harder. He advised them to "follow the crowd and be unique" without becoming introverted or falling into bad habits. He also addressed whether being a science student offered advantages, stressing the importance of respecting and focusing on all subjects with determination.
Chubalemba expressed his gratitude to the teachers and the school for shaping him into a responsible person. He cautioned students to stay away from drugs and use mobile phones judiciously.
The event concluded with a closing remark from Aochuba Jamir, PGT, an invocation by Sipongsonla GT, and was chaired by Tsetahoi of Class 12 Science. The School Choir also performed, “Love lifted me.”
