US Martial Arts Champion at Kohima

Kohima, May 17 (MExN): “Have a passion in life, dedicate yourself to it and other things will follow” is the message from Kario Issac Maheo, a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, first from India’s North east earning recognition abroad. Born at Karong(Manipur)he did his schooling at St.Joseph’s, Tadubi and graduated from St.Joseph’s College, Jakhama.

Speaking at the Motivational symposium in The Heritage, Kohima today on commitment, organized by Human Resource Development Committee, Khonoma Rüffüno Nagaland (KRN), Issac, champion of  Super Fight League(SFL) Challenger India who won international acclaim  in Mixed Martial Arts(MMA) on February 8, 2014 at Queen Casino Cage Sport battle in Washington DC, USA despite breakage of his right arm in the first round, finally winning through Technical Knock Out(TKO) urged the gathering to never let circumstances limit life’s possibilities, but rather to rise above it, give their best and live life to their hearts’ content.

He shared that his biggest fear is to have to regret in old age, of having left out on one’s dreams while young and not having lived truly, but only existed. Sounding a note of optimism, he said that one must have faith in God, faith in oneself and follow his passion, hoping for the best for the future and not live in the past, as it is simply a waste of time.

The humble and unassuming athlete said that we all fight for a reason, for something in our lives, and urged the young crowd to ponder over it, as to what it means individually adding ‘it is not fair in life if we do not give ourselves a chance to live our dreams’.

”Fear of having to regret” motivates him, he said. Though he is satisfied and content with his recent achievement, but uncertain of the future due to his injury, he hoped that after recovery of his broken arm, his aim is to compete at a higher level besides starting a fitness and sports venture.

Invocation was pronounced by Huzo Meru. Special songs were presented by Alder Group and Visedelhu Terhüja, Finalist Naga Talents promo.

Giving the prelude to the symposium, Kuolachalie Seyie, KRN President lauded Kario’s undying spirit and commitment to strive for success in his life. “Issac is just one of us, he is not of a different species, but a fraction of higher commitment and accountability to God in a person makes such a big difference in life as seen from his experiences,” Seyie said.

An interactive session followed with Theja Meru, renowned musician and manager, The Heritage as moderator. Vote of thanks was delivered by Keviphotsü, President KRN (Kohima) ending with benediction by Mrs. Salhoutuonuo Kruse, President, Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho(AWO).
