Kiphire, February 12 (MExN): United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) and Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) have resolved to uphold and implement ‘Clean Election’ call given by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC).
In this light, the two bodies in a joint meeting held on February 12 in Pungro Town adopted resolutions to be strictly adhered to and to be implemented in letter and spirit by all the candidates/ political parties within 60 Pungro-Kiphire A/C.
According to the meeting resolution appended by USLP vice president, K Tsilise and YTC secretary, Y Makezho, the meeting decided campaigning by any candidate using tribe/clans name is forbidden.
“Opening/setting up of youth camps is prohibited,” it further resolved, while also prohibiting carrying of liquor and arms by any individual or organization.
They also decided that action will be initiated against those candidates/political parties found involved in damage of public/government properties and blockade of road.
“Any unforeseen consequences arising out of the use of social media will be borne by the individual concerned,” the meeting also resolved.
“Booth capturing by any candidates/political parties is strictly censored,” the two bodies added.
It was warned that any contravention of the resolutions by candidates/political parties will invite serious action from the two apex organizations.
The meeting further resolved to extend full cooperation to the district administration for the upcoming February 27 Nagaland Legislative Assembly election.
