USSC extends support to ENSF & NSF ultimatum

Kiphire, September 15 (MExN): The United Sangtam Students' Conference (USSC) on Tuesday extended support to the demand made by the Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF) and Naga Students federation (NSF) on SSA and RMSA 2010-13 batches teachers’ issue.

It also supported the ultimatum to the Chief Secretary Nagaland, issued on September 2 and urged the state government to streamline those teachers as per the agreement made.

Vice President, USSC, Sethrongba Y Sangtam in a press release stated that the School Education Department and NSSATA in the presence of NSF and ENSF has signed an agreement on June 12, 2018 and agreed to rectify the nature of appointment of SSA teachers of 2010 and 2013 batch basing on the appointment order, RTI report and advertisement and other relevant documents.

Subsequently, on October 3, 2018 the cabinet issued an office memorandum and decided “In principle” to bring all SSA & RMSA Teachers 2010 & 2013 batch teachers into the mainstream of the School Education cadre, the release said.

It also stated that several reminding letters have been issued by NSSATA and NSF and ENSF to stick to the government decision. “However, even after the lapse of more than two years the Nagaland government never keeps its words,” USSC VP Stated.

The USSC also stated that teachers of these batches are discharging their duties robustly in the entire state, but it is sad to learn that they are deprived of their right by not being paid on time and not being mainstreamed into the school education cadre.

Such negligence of the Nagaland government should not affect the student’s community in any manner, the apex student organization of the Sangtam community asserted.

It expressed serious concern for the sacrifices and hardships of the teachers and urged the government not to delay, but to meet the various stakeholders’ plea and bring SSA and RMSA teacher into the School Education cadre.

Further, the USSC conveyed that it would continue to extend support to the NSF and ENSF ultimatum for the genuine cause of the teachers and assured “any possible help when needed.”
