USSC officials at the AME construction site in Kiphire on November 11.
Kiphire, November 15 (MExN): The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), the apex body of the Sangtam students’ community, inspected the ongoing construction site of the Assistant Mechanical Engineer (AME) Office in Kiphire on November 11.
According to an update received here, it stated that the union, on inspection, found the construction “been neglected for years.” It informed that the department issued the work order in 2023 and added that the USSC found the building was almost completed, with only painting and wiring remaining.
It expressed dismay that although Kiphire was declared a district headquarters in February 2004, the Mechanical office was yet to be bifurcated, even after 21 years since the district declaration.
Asking whether the fault lied with the contractor or the department in the delay, the Conference demanded the construction work to be completed and the office to be “functional by the early part of 2026.”
