Kiphire, June 2 (MExN): The United Sangtam Students' Conference (USSC) has expressed concern and disappointment over what it termed the deplorable state of the access road to Government High School Yangphi and the hazardous condition of its compound.

Located just a few metres from the National Highway, the road leading to GHS Yangphi is in a pathetic state, making it difficult for vehicles to navigate, especially during the monsoon season, the union said in a statement.

The situation is further worsened by the muddy and slippery condition of the school compound, which poses a significant safety risk to students and compromises the hygiene and dignity expected within an educational institution, it added.

Strongly condemning the neglect of such basic infrastructure, the USSC called for immediate attention from the concerned authorities and urged the Government of Nagaland to take urgent steps to repair and maintain the access road to ensure safe and smooth passage for vehicles.

Further, it called for infrastructure upgrades within the school premises, including proper drainage systems and development of the compound to create a safe, stable, and hygienic environment for the students.

Providing all-weather accessibility and improving the school compound are essential for the well-being of the students and the surrounding community, the union added, urging the responsible authorities to intervene immediately and implement permanent solutions to these pressing issues.
