DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC) has decided to impose indefinite closure of all government schools within Sangtam jurisdiction in Kiphire district, Longkhim sub division and Tsithrongse, Sangtamtila and Milrise with effect from September 13.
The USSC informed this in a letter to the Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, stating that the closure would continue until the concerned authority meets its demands for immediate cancelation of the transfer of teachers with post, and without relievers and ensure equitable distribution of teaching staff; detachment of teachers from VIPs (MLA), Directors, DEO, Sr. SDEO and SDEOs and redeploy them to their designated places of posting; and redeployment of shortage of teachers in every mentioned school.
This decision was made in an emergency tripartite meeting of the USSC with its executives, area officials, and Sangtam intellectuals on September 8 concerning the non-fulfillment of the USSC’s charter of demand which was submitted to the Directorate of School Education.
The USSC informed the School Education Department that the conference has been closely monitoring within the Sangtam jurisdiction in particular till June 8, 2023. “However, taking serious consideration and plight of the students' community, the USSC decided to initiate the grievances encountered by the students' community within the district, effectively from August 3, 2023 as per the Nagaland School Education Service Rules 2017, and is working comprehensively irrespective of tribe/area without any barriers and bias and the conference will continue to steadfast till its demand is fulfilled,” it stated.
It further said that the present matter is for the welfare of the entire district and “it is not subjected to land encroachment/dispute or otherwise.” The conference directed all the Heads of Schools not to submit attendance report of teachers and students in the portal; and that no staff under the establishment of DEO, Sr SDEO, SDEOs and DMA under Sangtam jurisdiction is allowed to perform any activities till further notification from the office of USSC.
