UT NSCN (IM) directs ‘nightclubs, pubs and discos’ to stop operation

Dimapur, May 14 (MExN): The Union Territory (UT), NSCN (IM), has directed all "nightclubs/pubs and discos" to cease their operations within its jurisdiction with immediate effect.

A press release from Solomon Sumi, Secretary of UT NSCN (IM), cited "a number of underage girls seen late at night in an unusual manner" as well as alleged engagement in "various immoral activities with married men/non-local businessmen for cash."

The release indicated that it was acting on complaints received from the general public and various civil society organisations concerning the ongoing late-night opening and operation of nightclubs, pubs, and discos extending into the early morning hours.

Meanwhile, the Office of the UT also warned against involvement in peddling drugs and banned substances within its jurisdiction.

The use of drugs among young Naga youths has increased tremendously in the past few years as it is easily accessible everywhere and the NSCN (IM) UT Officials would take stringent action against those defaulters involving in sale of any banned substances or drugs, it added.

Further, the UT Office cautioned its staff to inform or consult the office regarding any work within UT jurisdiction.  In case of any untoward incident within the jurisdiction of the UT by its members, the UT Office will deal strictly with them, it added.
The UT of NSCN (IM) jurisdiction covers the erstwhile  undivided Dimapur district.
