DIMAPUR, AUGUST 30 (MExN): The Nagaland Shooting Sports Association (NSSA), in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland, conducted the valedictory-cum-prize distribution ceremony of a two-week free training and competition programme under the theme “Sports for All” on August 30.
The programme, which began on August 22, was held at the Temjen Toy Indoor Shooting Range, Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex, Duncan, Dimapur.
The ceremony was chaired by Vilivi H Sheqi, while Khrusa Keyho, DCP Dimapur, graced the event as Special Guest.
Guest of honour, Wiridin Zeliang, SDO (Civil), Dimapur, described shooting as a rare and fascinating sport for Nagaland, noting it was his first experience witnessing the discipline. Highlighting its potential, he said it was necessary to explore the game as Nagas are naturally inclined towards such activities.
Encouraging the athletes, Zeliang reminded them that “nothing comes easy when striving to be at the top.” He urged participants to aim high, practice diligently and maintain consistency to excel in the sport.
Hito Swu, Shooting Instructor, DYRS, delivered the welcome address and presented a detailed report on the two-week training and competition.
Earlier, the invocation was pronounced by Liza R Achumi. Athlete representative Gemdynaro Longkumtzur expressed gratitude to the organisers for providing free coaching opportunities. Outstanding participants were later awarded for their performances during the valedictory-cum-prize distribution.
