‘Value of art & culture is important’

  ‘Discovery North East- A Cultural Yatra 2016’ held at DBHSS Zubza  

Zubza, February 24 (DIPR): ‘Discovery North East- A Cultural Yatra, 2016’ organised by the  North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur in collaboration with the Department of Art and culture, Kohima, Nagaland was also held at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Zubza on February 24. The programme was graced by Commandant 37th Assam Rifles, Col. Ananya Bonal as the chief guest and Commandant 87 Battalion CRPF, Neeraj Yadav as Guest of Honour.  

Col. Ananya Bonal in his speech stated that the value of art and culture is important in the present context and added that without art and culture one’s life would not be fulfilled. He said that the people of North- East celebrating together with its different cultures showcase the unity in diversity which is the pride of the Nation.  

Joint Director NEZCC, Talinokcha in his introductory speech highlighted on various Zonal Cultural Centres in India where the NEZCC covers the eight North Eastern States. He said that under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, besides various schemes, the most important scheme was the National Cultural Exchange programme, which has been successfully implemented across the country. The Cultural Yatra 2016 is also being successfully implemented across the State covering 32 Towns and Villages, he informed.  

Stating that Unity in Diversity is the pride of the Nation, Talinokcha said that the NEZCC has designed this program with its main objective to bring artistes from various States in order to have better understanding and unity among the states. He said that the second objective was to identify the new Art form from different parts of the region.  

Chairman, V.C.C. Sechü, Mhasikhotuo Zhunyu delivered the welcome address while Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Sechü Principal Fr. Samuel invoked God’s blessing and welcome song was presented by Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Sechü.  

In the Cultural presentation, the following Cultural troupes participated with their various items as follows: Badhai (SCZCC) from Madhya Pradesh, Ka Shad Mastieh from Meghalaya, Eme- Relo (Adi Community) from Arunachal Pradesh, Chakari Dance (WZCC) from Rajasthan, Bihu Dance from Assam, Thang- Ta from Manipur and folk song and dances from Sechu Youth Organisation Cultural troupes and Sechu Zubza Youth Organisation.  

Besides Village elders and Departmental Officials, the programme was also attended by Social Activist, Niketu Iralu who is also a member of initiatives of change, India along with Dr. Vilasier Iralu and his wife from New Mexico who works for India Health Service.
