Mokokchung, January 2 (MExN): Veteran Naga rock band Vanadium bid farewell to their fans with a spectacular reunion concert at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung in December last week. The event marked the band’s final performance together, celebrating 30 years of their musical journey.
Hundreds of music enthusiasts from across Nagaland, including Mokokchung, Kohima, and Dimapur, flocked to witness the iconic band’s last show. The audience comprised both youngsters and those who grew up listening to Vanadium’s music, making it a nostalgic evening for many.
The band delivered electrifying renditions of heavy metal classics by Megadeth, Metallica, and Pantera, showcasing their versatility and prowess. Fans were treated to a night of intense guitar riffs, pounding drums, and powerful vocals as Vanadium performed some famous hits.
The concert featured guest artistes like Sangti Ozukum, Temjen Lemtur, Longriwati (Squadron), Jongpong (Zeta Strings), Imtiakum, Kichuba, and the band, and Empty Pockets. Vanadium’s core members Ponen (vocal), Longden LKR and Temjen (guitars), Alem (drums), and Pokyim (bass) were joined by guest guitarist Satem Lkr.
Vanadium’s musical legacy spans over three decades, with around 20-30 shows across Nagaland. The band’s decision to reunite for this final concert aimed to celebrate their long-standing friendships and inspire younger musicians.
