Dimapur, September 26 (MExN): As a part of the ongoing ‘Rashtriya poshan Maah’ (National Nutritional month) various activities were carried out across the state in the past few days.

 

Mokokchung: An awareness camp for Adolescent girls organized by Ongpangkong (North) ICDS project in convergence with Department of Health & Family Welfare was held at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung on September 23. A DIPR report stated that Talisangla Nokdir, CDPO Ongpangkong (N) delivered a short speech. Dr Moamongla, Ayush Department, IMDH interacting with the girls informed them about the problem of Anemia and its treatment. Dr Salong and his team from Urban Primary Health Centre, Yimyu, shared on health talks.


Meanwhile, a block level anemia screening camp was also held at Government High School, Longjang on September 25. The Camp was organized by Kobulong ICDS Project in collaboration with the Department of Health & Family Welfare. Dr Nungshikokba, MO, PHC Longjang and his team conducted the screening.

 

Peren: Block level Poshan Mela in Peren town showcased indigenous nutrition complementary food (age-wise) prepared using locally available food items. ADC Peren, Moa Sangtam inaugurated the Mela held on September 24. District Level Centre for women Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) distributed paper bags and sanitary napkins. Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) Peren distributed information pamphlets and spot registration for PMMVY during the programme. 

 

Zunheboto: The penultimate block programme of Poshan Maah under Zunheboto ICDS Project conducted an anemia screening camp at Vekuho Old Village on September 22 with the assistance of medical department. A short programme was held before the screening, stated a DIPR report. Senior Supervisor, Benjamin Sema chaired the programme. An overview of Poshan Abhiyan and Poshan Maah was delivered by Supervisor, Innoto K Achumi.Valerie Kiba, BPM Zunheboto Sadar stressed on maintaining healthy hygiene especially for adolescent girls and women during menstruation, importance of taking Iron Folic Acid tablets and deworming tablets to prevent Anemia in women and children.The camp was attended by more than 100 people including Asha Coordinator, Kivinitoli Yepthomi, Anganwadi workers and helpers.40 people were screened for Anemia, where two lactating mother, one pregnant woman and one child was tested positive for Anemia and were referred to Atoizu PHC. IFA tablets were distributed by Tozheli, LHU and Zheholi ANM PHC Atoizu during the screening.

 

Kohima: An awareness camp for adolescent girls and anemia screening was conducted at the Village Community Hall, Meriema village, on September 24. The programme was organised in convergence with the GMS, Health and Wellness Centre and CDPO Office, Kohima (Tribal), under the programme Rashtriya Poshan Maah, informed a press release issued by Reyivolu, Sr. Supervisor, CDPO Office, Kohima Tribal. The programme was led by Keneilhoupfenuo, Supervisor, Kohima (T) and Vitseizonuo Huozha, Evangelist, CRC Meriema said an invocation prayer. 


The Community Health Officer from Health and Wellness Centre Meriema, Sibenya, was the resource person. Speaking on the theme, “Adolescent Girls Health and Anaemia,” Sibenya said that adolescent period is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood and is characterized by rapid physical changes, accompanied by psychological, behavioral changes. She stressed on the need to stay hygienic, especially during menstrual period. Reyivolu, Sr Supervisor from CDPO office, Kohima (T) spoke on the theme, “Adolescent Girls: Diet and Right Age of Marriage.”  The second session was on Anaemia Screening, which was performed by the Health and Wellness Centre Meriema Team.
