Various activities under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign conducted

Students participating in various activities held under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign at Chessore.
Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): Various under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign were conducted in different places in Nagaland recently.
Chessore: District administration Tuensang in collaboration with the Mahila Shakti Kendra, District Level Centre for Women and Sakhi-One Stop Centre under BBBP campaign conducted programme under the theme ‘Be Empowered’ and ‘Stop suffering in silence’ on February 21 and 22.
Students from Sangto High School, St Christopher School and Government High School, Chessore participated in the essay, drawing and extemporary speech competitions held on the topic girls education, women empowerment and domestic violence respectively.
On the second day, civil societies from Yimchunger Women Organization Chessore, Chessore Village Students Union, GBs and DBs attended the programme along with the students.
Toking Yimchunger, EAC and SDO(C) incharge Chessore appraised the gathering on BBBP and urged them to thoroughly understand about the concept of the campaign. He called upon the gatherings, especially the male students, elders and teachers to take lead to bring about ideological change towards girl child.
The workshop activities were conducted led by Songmao M, Women Welfare Officer - Mahila Shakti Kendra Tuensang and Herola, Case worker Sakhi-One Stop Centre Tuensang. Altogether around 80 students participated in the programme.
Tening: The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rhosietho Nguori convened a meeting on BBBP with Block Task Force (BFT) at his office chamber, Tening on February 21.
The ADC chaired the meeting and highlighted the ongoing programme of Tening sub-division and urged the BFT to take collaborative effort and in convergence with all the stakeholders for successful BBBP mission. EAC Tumben P Tsangla presented the schedule of upcoming events and requested for an open discussions for implementation of various BBBP activities.
The house decided to hold inter-school sports meet and celebration of International Women’s Day 2020 in collaboration with Tening Town Women’s Welfare Organisation.
Nsong town: In another event, Tening Block Task Force under BBBP organised a one day health mela at Nsong Town led by Tumben P Tsanglao, EAC on February 24.
Tsanglao, who also incharge of EAC Nsong, imparted training for effective health to the grassroot level through Village Health Committee.
Dr Neilasakuo Linyu, Medical Officer (MO) and Dr Nuksang Jamir, MO of Ayush of Community Health Centre (CHC), Tening spoke on the importance of health. Dr Neilasakuo Linyu who flagged off the mela appealed to the people to make use of health workers services.
The orientation session for Village Education Committee (VEC) highlighted the empowerment of girls vis- a- vis women. He also urged the VEC to monitor schools and health care as stakeholders.
Village Health Committees from Bamsiakilwa, Lalong, Nchen, Ngaulong, Nsong took part in the orientation programme under BBBP. Health counselling and check-up and distribution of medicines were also part of the programme. Lungkuheing Ndang, ICTC counsellor of CHC Tening gave counselling on HIV/AIDS.
Ngam village: BBBP campaign was launched by EAC Tumben Tsanglo in Ngam village bordering Assam and Manipur, under Nsong division of Peren district on February 25.
The EAC held a meeting with village elders and leaders where he emphasized on the importance of education and health. He said that pregnant mothers should feel privileged and has to maintain good health and underlined that the most important development is road, school and electrification. Dropout children should also be brought under control, he added.
Interaction and imparting of responsibilities and duties were the highlights of the day long programme.
Jalukie: Orientation program and Block Level Task force meeting on BBBP was held at ADC Conference Hall, Jalukie town on February 24. The meeting was chaired by Women Welfare Officer (WWO) DLCW Peren, Heiriateilei.
Presiding over the meeting WWO gave a brief introductory note on BBBP programmes and also informed the house about the ongoing activities as well as the District action plans which were planned to be conducted from March 2nd to 8th in all the sub-divisions of Peren District as part of International Women’s Week celebration programme.
Public rally, Baby show, Youth Service and Inter-School Sports meet were also some of the agenda suggested by the members of the house to be taken up in support of BBBP programmes.
Meanwhile, an orientation program & Block Level Task Force meeting was also held at ADC Peren Conference Hall under the chairmanship of ADC Peren, Moa Sangtam.
