
Kiphire, July 31 (MExN): Many people adopted various family planning methods during the Population Control Fortnight or Family Health Mela in Kiphire district conducted by District Health Society from July 11-24.
24 female sterilization, 83 Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) and 12 Postpartum Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (PPIUCD) INSERT IGNOREions were done during the fortnight, which was observed under the aegis of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, according to a press release from Imnasenla Pongener, District Media Officer, CMO Office, Kiphire.
OCP pills and condoms were also distributed during the programme. Meanwhile, IEC activities were carried out to create awareness and generate demand for family planning services. Distribution of leaflets in local dialects and focus group discussions (FGD) stressing on topics of right age of marriage, spacing at birth and other family planning methods were also done.
Prior to the start of Population Control Fortnight, a District Task Force meeting was held on July 8, 2016 at the DC’s office here to ensure that the programme was effectively executed, the release added.
