Pfütsero, October 26 (MExN): The Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) organised a joint meeting with various groups including political party workers and prayer centres/houses in Phek district at the conference hall of Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), Pfütsero on October 25.
“Over 70 participants that attended the meeting had resolved to support the Nagaland Baptist Church Council and the CCEM’s clean election guidelines and principles,” CCEM stated in a press release.
The joint meeting also resolved to safeguard the Christian faith, socio-cultural values, and Naga identity; to work together to usher peace and tranquility during the election and beyond; not to mislead the public through hate speech or character assassination against any candidates or parties; to organize an open platform and to discourage individual or house to house campaign.
The CCEM also reminded that it will continue to educate the people about clean election movement during election and beyond.
Earlier, CCEM Chairman, Rev Vezopa Rhakho gave an overview about the clean election. CBCC Executive Secretary, Rev Khrotso Mero said that the people have been passive for too long and it is time that they become active in working for the betterment of the society. He called upon various groups leaders’ to work together and elect the leaders in all honesty.
Chakhesang Public Organisation, President, Vezuhu Keyho also spoke on the need to change the system. He urged the leaders present during the meeting not to misguide voters and instead educate them.
