30 year old Vechita Khesoh representing Chozuba Range Wrestling Association today emerged as champion of the 25th Wrestling Meet of Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) held here under the theme “Exploring a greater vision.”
From Yoruba village, Vechita pocketed cash prize of Rs. 1.50 lakh.
Veniizo Dawhuo (20 years), from Thenyizu village and representing Chokri Area Wrestling Association, stood second and pocketed Rs. 1.10 lakh.
Vekutho Soho (20) from Phek village and representing Phek Area Wrestling Association stood third position while Kuku-o (20) from Getsa Pholami village and representing Secheku Area Wrestling Association bagged 4th position.
They were awarded Rs. 80,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively.
Four quarter finalists Vezhopo Chuzho, Surhonieyi Soho, Vekuzo Vezhii and Besuhvo Vadeo were awarded with Rs. 10,000 each.
Earlier, chief guest on the occasion Parliamentary Secretary for Planning & Coordination, Evaluation & Monitoring Cell and Taxes, Neiba Kronu, released the 25th anniversary souvenir of CWA.
Speaking on the occasion, Kronu encouraged the wrestlers to strive hard and excel at the higher level.
Phek Deputy Commissioner Murohu Chotso was the guest of honour.
CWA vice president Neitshiipe Wetsa administered oath to the 60 wrestlers.
Meanwhile, frees style wrestling from both men and women will take place from 9 a.m. onwards on February 19.
Prizes amounting to Rs. 70,000 is set for the men’s event in Freestyle category, while for women, the amount is only Rs. 50,000.
