Ex-MLA and former minister Vejoi Vero, who passed away on Friday, was laid to rest today after conducting a funeral service at Phek town. Numerous people from all walks of life turned up at the funeral service and paid their last respect to the departed soul.

Ex-minister Zachilhu R Vadeo spoke on behalf of brother-in-laws while Zhovehü Lohe, ex-speaker Nagaland Legislative Assembly spoke on behalf of ex-Parliamentarians.

Others who spoke at the funeral service includes; Chakhesang Public Organization president Vezühü Keyho, Pusazo Luruo, Nekhusa Venuh on behalf of Phek Area Public Organization, Shekhohü Chizo on behalf of Phek Government College, Khosapa Venuh on behalf of Bethel Ward, Rev Dr Vezopa Tetseo on behalf of Chepoketa village, Tsoyi Vero (Brother), Punesayi Swuro on behalf of son-in-laws and Zhopra Vero and Zhodüyi Vero on behalf of family.

Message and act of committal was done by Rev Dr Thüpuchiyi Khesoh, pastor Phek Town Baptist Church.

The funeral service was chaired by Dr. Vezhoto Soho, associate pastor, Phek Town Baptist Church.

Meanwhile, in a condolence message, Nagaland Minister for Planning & Co-Ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu stated that “He (Vejoi Vero) was one of the pioneers and a good leader from the Chakhesang community who immensely rendered his service to the society in various capacities as a veteran politician and a social worker.”

“Today, we have lost a noble, honest and dynamic leader who was an inspiration to all the Nagas,” Kronu stated and expressed his deepest condolence to the bereaved family at this moment of grief.

Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) president Vezhoduyi Nakro described Vejoi Vero as a highly respected leader from Chakhesang community.

“His services and legacy as a community leader will be deeply cherished for years to come,” he added.
