Veniizo Dawhuo emerged as champion of the 26th Wrestling Meet of Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA) held here today.
Hailing from Thenyizu village, Veniizo defeated Vevolhu Swuro, also from Thenyizu, to win cash prize of Rs. 60,000. Runner up Vevolhu pocketed cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
Besiihveto Chiizho from Phusachodii village claimed the third position and walked away with Rs. 40,000 while Thupukhoyi Swuro from Chetheba Town pocketed Rs. 20,000 for winning 4th place. Earlier, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo graced the occasion as the chief guest and called upon the wrestlers to take wrestling as profession.
He also stressed on the need to promote the game of Naga wrestling at the National level.
Er. Mudozho Chiizho, Retd Senior Architect, NPWD graced the closing function as the chief guest and gave away prizes to the winners.
Earlier, CAWA president Etsongoyi Medeo in his presidential address thanked each and every individual for the success of the 26th CAWA meet.
