Jalukie, October 24 (MExN): The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry celebrated the College and Sports Day on October 24.
Lieutenant General Gopal, R. AVSM, SM, who was the chief guest spoke about the importance of one’s culture, tradition and conservation of fauna and flora. General Gopal encouraged the students taking up veterinary course by saying that they should dedicate their services in rural areas such as Jalukie. He further mentioned that if every household has one or two cows which will be useful in producing bio gas then the dependency on LPG will be reduced. Students should absorb knowledge and also follow the age old traditional system of healing of animals. He also motivated the students to join the Remount Veterinary Corps.
The Dean, Dr Captain GD Rao, in his welcome address explained the genesis of the College and the unlimited support being received from the State Government of Nagaland, village leaders and villagers around the college for smooth functioning of the College where students come from all the seven Northeast states. Dr Gunjan Das proposed the vote of thanks. Lt Gen Gopal awarded the overall best trophy to 2016-17 B V Science & Animal Husbandry batch.
