VHC communitization training held in Kiphire

Kiphire, February 1 (DIPR): Training on communitization for VHC of Kiphire district was held on January 30 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall. The resource persons were Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Punsokiu; Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Khriesi and District Programme Manager (NRHM), Kukehieto Tase. Altogether there were 45 participants. Dr. Khriesi gave a brief introduction on the purpose of the training and stressed on the importance of community participation, fund utilization and monthly reporting.  Dr. Punsokiu spoke on the roles and responsibilities of communitization and on the main functions of Health Committees and the role of the health department towards the community. He also called upon the VHCs to enforce discipline and remove absenteeism and that leave should be applied through proper channel. Kukehieto explained the importance of Monthly reporting and asked the VHCs to cross check the reports with the concerned Health workers before submitting it to the CMO office. He added that timely and genuine reporting was important to maintain stability and check progress of the health units. The participants also shared their success stories and their grievances were also put across during the discussion hour.
