DIMAPUR, MAY 21 (MExN): President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), S Supongmeren Jamir today said that the “thunderous applause and the slogans of victory engulfing the streets of Karnataka is the deserving result of the blood, sweat and tears of the supporters, the party workers and its leadership on all levels.”
“We belong to a party that took up the challenge to rebuilt India after Independence to a united and progressive nation; we belong to a party that refuses to give up upon facing any hurdle; we are a party that will rise from the ashes like a phoenix and all this is possible because of the unending support from the people,” he stated.
The NPCC President urged each and every citizen to take this “thumping victory at Karnataka as the beginning of the "New India" we envision, and that change is driven by everyday people like you and I.”
The people of Karnataka have shown that they will no longer accept governance on the narratives of divisional politics and corruption. When every strata of society comes together there is nothing that cannot be achieved, he claimed.
Appeal to Nagas
He meanwhile appealed that “if we Nagas could take a page of learning from the Karnataka chapter?
What narratives are we championing? Who are writing these narratives and for whom? How legitimate are these narratives to build a world we want to see our future generation grow up in?”
Sooner or later we realize the pen is mightier in the hand of the masses than the chosen few, Jamir stated.
The NPCC conveyed congratulations to the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah and the Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President, DK Shivkumar “whose actions have inspired us to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.” It further congratulated the central leadership “who have guided and trusted the state leadership and acted like a shield on all times, to the newly elected members who stood firm on the party principles, to the party workers who have sacrificed mentally, physically and emotionally and to the supporters without whom Congress would have never reached this zenith.” We have witnessed a positive change which I believe will kick off a chain reaction to work towards the change we need, Jamir said.
He hoped that this win would “ignite our spirits to work towards the future of India.”
