CGST Dimapur officials with students of Tetso College and others on November 3.

Dimapur, November 4 (MExN): As part of the Vigilance Awareness Week being observed from October 31 to November 6 throughout the country in all Central Government offices and Public Sector Enterprises, banks and various institutions, the Central GST Commissionerate Dimapur conducted a Debate Competition among the Post Graduate students of Tetso College on November 3.
The significance of October 31 is that it is the birthday of Sardar Valabh Bhai Patel, also known as the Iron Man of India, informed a press release from the CGST Dimapur.
The topic for the debate was “Corruption is the root cause of the Indian economy’s decline” and two teams of four students each participated in the debate. The team speaking against the motion was adjudged the winners of the debate, the release stated.
Kvulo Lorin, Director Tetso College encouraged the students on how to increase their knowledge base and improve their communication skills by participating in such activities. He thanked CGST Dimapur for conducting the programme at their institution and looked forward to further interaction with the GST department in the future.
Meanwhile, Sashi Wapang Lanu, IRS, Additional Commissioner gave a brief talk on Indirect taxes and also explained the significance of Vigilance Awareness Week. Certificates and prizes for the participants and winners of the competition were distributed by Thejaselhou Yhome, IRS, Deputy Commissioner.
