‘Vigyan Utsav’ Festival of Science - Nagaland Episode 

Kohima, September 18 (MExN): As a part of celebrating achievement of last 75 years of Independence through Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Department of Science and Technology, India under the State Science & Technology Programme (SSTP) has initiated a yearlong programme Vigyan Utsav to showcase emerging Science Technology and Innovation (STI) ecosystems at States/UTs and its contribution towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. 

According to a press release received here the Nagaland episode of Vigyan Utsav under the theme ‘STI Ecosystem in Nagaland for Atmanirbhar Bharat was organised by Nagaland Science & Technology Council (NASTEC), Department of Science & Technology, Nagaland on September 17, through virtual format, and inaugurated by Advisor, Science & Technology, IT&C and NRE, Government of Nagaland and National Spokesperson, BJP Mmhonlumo Kikon.

The main highlight of the programme included presentations by various Central & State S&T institutions and University in the state.

Dignitaries & participants of the programme were welcomed by OT Chingmak, IAS, Principal Secretary, S&T & Chairman, NASTEC. The programme was chaired by Er Kevitso Kenneth, Sr. Scientific Officer & Member Secretary. A presentation on “STI ecosystem in the State- Strength of S&T Council” was delivered by Kekuneil Ltu, Scientist, NASTEC followed by presentation from various S&T institutes in the state and vote of thanks proposed by Dr Nesatalu Hiese, Sr Scientist, NASTEC. Er Pelengulie Chücha, Scientist C, moderated the presentations.

Speakers in the programme were Dr MH Khan, Director, NRC on Mithun, Medziphema; Dr DJ Rajkhowa, Jt Director, ICAR NEH Region Nagaland Centre; Dr S Venugopal, Director, NIT, Dimapur; Prof Akali Sema, Dean, SASRD, Medziphema, Dr Lily Sema, Principal, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma; Dr NK Patle, Addl Comm & Exe Dir (National Bee Board) and Director, CIH, Medziphema; Albert Ngullie, Jt Director, LRD, GoN; Temsuinla Jamir, Jt Director, SARS, Mokokchung, GoN.

This Vigyan Utsav programme will be conducted virtually on a monthly basis till August 2022 following up different thematic topic under each month. The programme can be followed by any person through live stream or highlighted mode through the following sources:
