Vijay Hazare: 4-wicket win over Sikkim for Nagaland

Nagaland Senior Men's Team after winning the match against Sikkim at Deradhun. 

 

DIMAPUR, October 11 (MExN): Nagaland engineered a 4-wicket win over Sikkim on October 11 in Round XIII of the Plate Group matches of the Vijay Hazare one-day Trophy. 


Nagaland comfortably chased a target of 140 in 36.5 overs with 4 wickets to spare at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy ground in Dehradun. 


Sikkim won the toss and put on 138 (all out) in 44.3 overs. Wicketkeeper Ashish Thapa top scored with 32 and number 10 batsman Ishwar Chaudhary was the second highest scorer with 18 runs as Sikkim’s top and middle order caved in. 


Nagaland’s attack was led by Imliwati, and SS Mundhe, who each took 3 wickets. Imliwati scalped opener Bibek and Yashpal before claiming Thapa. All rounder Tahmeed claimed 2 wickets.  


Nagaland chased down the target comfortably after a shaky start losing 3 wickets early on. The score read 45 for 3 in the 16th over. 


Skipper Jonathan Rongsen and Stuart Binny steadied the innings digging in for a steady half century partnership. Binny was the first to go at 35 followed quickly by Jonathan, who made 36. 


Ishwar Chaudhary claimed 3 wickets, Iqbal Abdulla took 2 wickets and Palzor 1. 

 

Vijay Merchant U-16

Nagaland (Under-16 boys) was 415/7 at close on day one playing against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Merchant Boys U-16 Trophy in Dimapur on October 11. The day’s play saw a century from Yugandhar (148), Rohan (70) and Yash (63). Day 2’s play will continue on October 12.
