Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): The Nagaland team today defeated Arunachal Pradesh by 187 runs to claim victory in its debut three-day Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy (2018-19).
The match was played from October 21 to 23 at Mahabir Chilorai Stadium, Abhayapuri under Bongaigaon in Assam.
Batting first, Nagaland scored 218 in first innings. In reply, Arunachal Pradesh players were bowled out for 104 runs.
Leading by 114 runs in the first innings, Nagaland declared the 2nd innings at 174 for 4.
The Arunachali were again bowled out for 99 in the 2nd innings, giving the victory margin of 187 runs to Nagaland. In the batting line-up, Nagaland’s Yugandhar was the best performer scoring 135 runs and 62 (not out) in the 1st and 2nbd innings respectively.
In the bowling department, Ranjan and Arjun took 7 wickets each. Nagaland will play Sikkim next from October 27 to 29 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
