Vilie Peli commemorates 25 years

Vilie Peli commemorated its 25 years on February 28 at Dzücha Mechüpru, D. Khel with Khriehu Liezietsu, Parliamentary Secretary, YRS, State Lotteries, MTF, chairman, DPDB Kohima as the chief guest and Kelhouphilie Kire, Chairman, D. Khel council as the Guest of honor. Peli in Tenyidie is a term that denotes a group and friendship of members belonging to the same age.  

Extending gratitude to the Vilie Peli, Kelhouphilie Kire stated that the 25 years celebration is a significant mark as it is a symbolism of good leadership and a peaceful community. Jubilee being a time of forgiveness and restoration of relationships, Khriehu Liezietsu urged the community to forgive each other for past wrongs and unite again.  

“In the name of jubilee, may there be forgiveness and reunion,” appealed Liezietsu who expressed appreciation to the group for not just celebrating the culture of peer group but also contribute to the developmental works in the village. “We have all become Christians but we must preserve our cultural heritage,” stated Liezietsu who assured to implement the schemes provided by the government to safeguard such heritage, in the village.  

Further sharing his vision to bring development in the village with a special focus on the upliftment of the youth, the Parliamentary Secretary stated that he wishes to bring development through sports, vocational training, maintenance of good roads and sports ground. For such developments, Liezietsu asserted that the support of the youth is the most crucial. 

During the celebration, prayer was invoked by Ruokuolhoulie Kire, Deacon, Khedi Baptist church, while the welcome address was delivered by President, Vilie Peli. Special songs were presented by the Vilie Peli (Badze Geizo) and Cultural Promotion Society, D. Khel. The vote of thanks was delivered by Kereivilie Kire, Secretary, organizing committee.
