Attendees of the meeting of Village Council chairmen under Rural Development (RD) Chümoukedima Block held on June 11.
Chümoukedima, June 11 (MExN): Village Council (VC) chairmen under Rural Development (RD) Chümoukedima Block have decided to form a forum to take up issues pertaining to the interests of the villages under the RD Block.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the VC chairmen at the Deputy Commissioner Chümoukedima Conference Hall under the chairmanship of the BDO, RD Chümoukedima Block, Sashirenla Imchen, informed a press release.
Seventeen out of the 23 council chairmen under the RD Block attended the emergency meeting convened by the BDO and discussed various issues pertaining to the development of villages and schemes introduced by the Ministry of RD, Government of India, it said. The house also unanimously decided to dissolve any existing VDB (Village Development Board) Secretary Association under the Block and directed all the VDB Secretaries under its jurisdiction to disassociate or withdraw from any such existing association in the district or state.
Meanwhile, the meeting also resolved to ask the RD Department not to take any punitive action against the Kacharigaon/Phevima Village Council for taking up the pull-back issue with the media.
Any discrimination or deprivation arising out of the recent event shall not be tolerated by the Forum, stated the release issued by Sessional Convenor Sebastian Zumvu.
