DIMAPUR, APRIL 26 (MExN): The Village Development Board (VDB), Mokokchung District General Conference was held on April 26 at Town Hall, Mokokchung with Deputy Commissioner Shashank Pratap Singh as the guest of honor.
According to a DIPR report, the DC, in his speech, said both the village council and VDB are unique institution and plays an important role in the community for development and peaceful co-existence.
For the smooth functioning of both institutions, one should know the objectives of setting up these institutions, the DC stated. He said the village council and village development board are like the grass-root level planning department, therefore, there should be strong coordination between the two.
The DC also asked the VDBs in the district to examine their performances so as to know whether they are going forward or sliding back, which he said is the most crucial for setting up the institution.
At the conference, Mokokchung District VDB Association president, Dr. Imtinungba Atsongchanger gave the introductory speech while the keynote address was delivered by Project Director (DRDA Mokokchung), Toshimongla Kichu.
Short speeches were delivered by Chuchuyimpang council chairman, Temsumoa Imsong, Mongchen council chairman, Aonungsang Mollier, and Chakpa council chairman, Imkonglemba while vote of thanks was proposed by Imtiyanger Imchen, executive member.
