Village leaders urged to focus on planning process

Chiechama | May 23 : Minister for urban development and higher & technical education Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu today urged upon the village leaders in the state to focus on planning process so as to move forward with the rest of the world. In this fast pace of changing and competitive world, Dr. Liezietsu said, one must give utmost importance towards a proper planning process, adding that such approach would go a long way in enabling the villages to cope with rest of advanced society.
Inaugurating a newly constructed gallery at Chiechama Village Ground, the minister maintained that any village that owns a comprehensive plan will see rays of development and climb the right ladder. Also stating that a time has come for everyone to seriously ponder over any field they involve in, he also stressed on the needs to change our attitude and to stop taking the things lightly. He stated that a time has come for everyone to know where they stand today, and also stressed on the need to strengthen the bound of unity and peace in this modern world.
Dr. Liezietsu also sought the support and cooperation of the villagers for all round development of the state.
Touching on Naga culture, he said that the colourful dresses and customs reflects the identity of Nagas, for which one should take it as pride and feel comfortable to wear the traditional dress whenever they go around the world. He asserted that the world will recognize Nagas through our rich culture and traditions. Talking on importance of education, he said that when the prospect of education lies at the correct order then all privileges and development will automatically come.
The minister said that attaining satisfactorily result of literacy is a pride for entire villagers, adding that possessing quality education would enable the villagers to move towards the right direction. In this, the minister called upon the teachers, parents and Village Education Committee to work collectively so as to provide proper education to the younger generation.
Also speaking on the occasion, Nolengol, project director Rural Development maintained that developmental activities are possible when there is peace and unity. He however reminded the villagers that disunity and unfavourable situation hamper the developmental activities. Expressing happiness over the completion of the gallery project at Chiechama, he, however said that despite many schemes has been extended by the government, some villages missed the opportunity to progress and get the benefit due to misutilization of fund. He said the objective of the NREGs is to uplift the living standard of the villagers, which not only enable the villagers to earn through their job card but also create asset to them. Also stating that the government is spending huge money to boost their economy and uplift living standard, Nolengol urged upon the villagers to make the best use of the provided funds and get maximum benefit from it.
Mentionably, the construction of the gallery at Chiechama involved over Rs. 43 lakhs, which was constructed under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
Earlier, the function was chaired by Thejao Vihienuo while Rev. Levi Rio, pastor CRC Chiechama invoked God’s blessing for the programme. Welcome address was delivered by Mhalezolie Metha, chairman Chiechama Village Council while report of the construction of gallery was briefed by Philie Metha, VDB secretary. Vote of thanks was proposed by Yangulie Sanchu, President Razou Kehou and the function concluded with benediction by Khriesaneisa Dzieyie, pastor CBBC.
