Phek, March 18 (MExN): Zapami village in Phek district observed ‘Village Sanitation Clean Day’ on March 16 as part of National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Awareness Week, which is being celebrated from March 16 to 22.
A press release from chairman of WATSAN Committee, Zapami Village, Kedou Wetsah stated that March 16 is observed as ‘Village Sanitation Clean Day’ annually by the committee for achieving complete sanitation coverage status (NGP).
It informed that around 500 villagers took part in the mass social work on the occasion “so as to harness information and knowledge for health and hygiene through Sanitation.”
Water and Sanitation Committee (WATSAN) Committee has been educating the rural people on Gandhi’s visualized cleanliness as having three dimensions – a clean mind, a clean body, a clean surrounding, the release stated. The committee has also displayed some signboard bearing messages like ‘Keep your village clean’, ‘Keep your colony clean’, and ‘Use dustbin,’ it added.
While congratulating Tshunapa colony for emerging as the winner among five colonies for cleanest colony of the village, the WATSAN Committee of Zapami has also thanked the Director WSSO, Executive Engineer, PHED Phek, SDO, PHED Pfutsero for providing materials to make the program a success.
