Dimapur, August 26 (MExN): Thahekhu Village Council (TVC) has addressed the PWD, (R&B) their serious concern on the pitiable state of the eroded bridge at National Highway 37- Dimapur, Lumding and Halflong road which links Dimapur to Assam.
TVC chairman K. Kakheho Yeputhomi and Secretary Heloto K. Anche in a joint statement said that this section of road and the dilapidated bridge falling inside the boundary of Thahekhu Village also happens to be the only lifeline for other Naga Villages viz Sangtamtilla, Tsithrongse and Tilla Basti without which there is no other alternate vehicular route to gain access to the commercial hub of the state.
During the recent spate of heavy rains and flood the already pathetic road and the dangerous condition of the bridge has further deteriorated so much that only the two wheelers manage to ply over it, it is only a matter of short time when it is likely to just collapse totally. “This issue was made aware to the concerned dept. officials to initiate immediate repair or construction works at the earliest. But to our dismay, no positive response has been seen till date,” the council added.
Whereas, to facilitate light vehicular movement temporarily on this stretch of road a joint social work was conducted by the Thahekhu and Sangtamtilla Village Council on August 26 where logs, wires and earth have been used as a makeshift to offer some respite for commuters for the time being while the Council has urged the department concerned to immediately redress this pertinent public grievance.
