Mokokchung: Three villagers namely Chungtia, Aliba and Kinunger on May 3 undertook massive social work on Mokokchung-Mariani road in the stretch lying between Mekuli village and IOC Mokokchung town as the Border road (Life line for Mokokchung, Tuensang districts) is lying in deplorable condition for quite some time in even in off season.
The road condition between Mukuli and IOC Mokokchung town seemed to be nastiest in the entire 85 km Mokokchung-Mariani sector being maintained by Border road Organization. Having suffered unbearable journey in this sector, the three villagers decided to undertake the social work where nearly 600 (Six hundred) male workers actively participated in clearing drainage system, filling up pot hole in the worst portion.
Leaders from the three villagers who led the work said they have engaged number of trucks to carry boulder to fill up the worst portion. The District Administration lead by Vokhoye SDO (C) visited the site and met the leaders and expressed deep gratitude to the three villagers for showing exemplary work at their own cost not only to the government but also to general public.
