Villages at Naginimora area receive subsidized LED bulbs

Naginimora, January 28 (MExN): The Nagaland State Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change took up the initiative of providing subsidized eco friendly LED bulbs to Chingphoi, Changlang, Chingdang, Wanching, Wakching, Wakching Chingla, Namthai, Shiyong, Hotahoti, Kongan and Naginimora residents under the Naginimora Forest Range, Mon Forest Division.

The Energy Efficient Nagaland programme under the Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) scheme was earlier launched by the Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire in October 2016.

A distribution programme was held at Naginimora Range Office premises where Lepzuk Jamir ACF, Range Officer Naginimora explained in brief the benefits of these bulbs to the residents present. The public enthusiastically received the high quality 9W LED bulbs provided by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) - a JV under the administration of Ministry of Power, Government of India. These bulbs are being provided at a distribution cost of Rs 65 each (against a market price of Rs 350). The residents and consumers will benefit immensely by these LED bulbs which are increasingly becoming popular because they use lesser electricity, last longer, emit more light and are part of the latest trend in “green” technology.

A press release received here stated that Suman Sivachar IFS, ACF Mon Division congratulated the residents and consumers in taking a small step forward for a brighter tomorrow. He acknowledged the support of Aochuba IFS, DFO Mon Division, Reny Wilfred IAS, AC Kohima Administration and the EESL team.

Owing to the remoteness of the villages, the Naginimora Forest Department staff expects the distribution to span over the few days, the release stated.
