Vinoo Mankad Trophy: Nagaland atop plate group with third consecutive wins

Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): Nagaland topped the table point in the Plate Group of the ongoing Men’s Under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2021-22 after securing their third consecutive win on October 2.

In the rain interrupted match at Jharkhand State Cricket Association Oval Ground in Ranchi, Nagaland earned an emphatic 9-wicket win over Mizoram. 

Winning the toss, Nagaland opted to field and a disciplined bowling ensured that Mizoram were bowled out for just 84 runs in 31.4 over, in the 45-overs per side match.

Neizekho Rupreo was the most successful bowler from Nagaland with a 5-wicket haul, while Khrievitso Kense scalped 3 and Raja Swarnkar claimed 2.

In reply, Nagaland reached the target in just 20.5 overs at the cost of one wicket. Solid knocks from  
Mughavi Sumi (42 not-out) and Yugandhar (31 not-out) ensured that Nagaland reached the target without much sweat, and in style. 

Sahil Sharma took the lone wicket of Neizekho (3 runs) for Mizoram.

With the win, Nagaland took the top spot at the points table in the Plate Group. The team will be looking forward to repeat the feat when they play Arunachal Pradesh on October 4 at MECON Stadium, Ranchi.
