
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 16 (MExN): Nagaland beat Manipur by five wickets in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad U-19 Boys tournament for Zonal Group at Bhubaneswar today.
Manipur had started strong in the tournament winning all their matches and suffered their first defeat today at the hands of the Nagaland team.
Manipur won the toss and chose to bat first, putting up a score of 149 all out in 45.3 overs. Shubam Chauhan (42) and Hrithik Kanojia (36) were the top scorers for Manipur.
Among the Nagaland bowlers, Chiranjivi with 4 wickets and Toukha Zhimo with 2 wickets were the leading wicket takers.
In the second innings, Nagaland reached their target losing only five wickets in 37.5 overs. Chiranjivi (40) and Hem (33) were the top scorers.
The U-19 boys, following the footsteps of the senior Nagaland team, which topped among the North East teams in the recently held Vijay Hazare tourney, have now won 4 matches, drawn one and lost one, with two more matches to go.
