
Nagaland beat Mizoram by 162 runs
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 22 (MExN): In the last match of the Vinoo Mankad U-19 One Day tournament for the Palate Group, Nagaland trashed Mizoram by 162 runs and finished second in the group.
Bihar being the top team qualified for the knock-out stage.
Nagaland put up an exceptional show in the tournament defeating Manipur, Arunachal, Sikkim Pudducherry, Meghalaya and Mizoram, drew with Uttrakhand due to bad weather and lost only to Bihar (6 wins, one drawn and one loss). The team is returning home on Tuesday.
This is the best performance till now in the session 2018-19 by a Nagaland team. Earlier in the Vijay Hazare Senior Mens Team, Nagaland won 5 matches and lost 3.
Nagaland won the toss and elected to bat first, putting up a score of 236 runs losing 7 wickets in 50 overs. Vipul with 87 runs and Hem with 56runs were the top scorers for Nagaland.
In the second innings Mizoram were bowled out for only 74 runs in 28 overs. Daniel who took six wickets for only 15 runs was Nagaland’s most successful bowler, followed by two wickets each for Yash and Chairanjivi.
