Highland Dawn Media of Kohima, in the process of producing a TV Reality Show competition to identify the 'Best Musical Instrumentalists of Nagaland,’ has selected finalists for Pfutsero & Mokokchung districts. Earlier finalists had been selected from Kohima & Dimapur districts. The whole show will be highlighted & telecast later on Doordarshan Kendra Kohima.
For the competition at Pfutsero, selected finalists were Meyie Khutso on the guitar, Mr. Kutholuto on guitar, and a Folk fusion group led by by Chivo Medeo,Vecu-o Tetseo, & Abu Khing. At Mokokchung, the district finalists were N.Sanen on the flute, and Imjung Jamir on acoustic guitar.
The competition aspires to encourage Naga folk music instrumentals, in the form of folk fusion music.The music judges for Kohima were Khyochano K Ngully, Azha Usou, & Andrew Ngully; judges for Dimapur were Dr Vivee Peseye, Nise Meruno, & Hojevi Cappo; judges for Pfutsero were Vesato Theluo, Vilvi Sakhrie, & Rukuzo Ruho; judges for Mokokchung were Toshi L Imchen, & Andrew Ngully.
The State level grand finale will be held at Heritage, Kohima on 30 Sept, 2011, at 5 pm. The show will be open to the public with free entrance.
