Nineteen year-old Visoneilie Khoubve from Zhadima village today emerged as the wrestling champion of the 32nd Northern Angami Youth & Sports Association (NAYSA) Group-C held at Zhadima village.

He defeated 18-year-old Thejavizo Merhieso from Nerhema village in the final.

Khoubve walked away with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while Merhieso received Rs 20,000.

Medophretuo Khoubve (Zhadima) and Videlhou Kiewhuo (Nerhema) secured the third and fourth position and received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively.

Earlier, the inaugural ceremony of the wrestling meet was graced by NDPP 11th Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency president Vibeilietuo Kets, as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Kets said that sporting events across the state are celebrated like festivals.

Sports, he observed, provides a platform that gives fame, name and livelihood to those who pursue it with dedication.
He therefore encouraged sportspersons to work hard and pursue in their area of interest seriously.

At all levels-from the villages to the state across the state, he said that investments are made to organize major sports events and so he encouraged sportspersons to work hard, be consistent and pursue their passion.

NAYSA-C president Vizosielie Khoube delivered presidential address while Zhadima Village Council (ZVC) chairman Neilalhoulie Soliezuo shared greetings.

Vilavor Loucü, Mengubeiü Khro and Keduolhoulie Khro presented the theme song while Youth Alive Zhadi Bawe AG church presented a special number.

Gracing the closing ceremony as the special guest, DUDA director  Lithrongla T Rutsa said that sports remain an event that brings people together-showcasing the spirit of unity. She encouraged players to compete with the spirit of unity and forgiveness, while also showing respect for opponents, coaches, and others.

Later, Rutsa presented the cash prizes to the winners of the wrestling meet.
