Viswema Youth Organisation 72nd session held

Kohima, April 22 (MExN): MLA Er. Kropol Vitsu has called for dignity of labour and a change of mindset in the youth. Er. Kropol was speaking on the occasion of 72nd session of the Viswema Youth Organisation held at Viswema Council Hall on April 22.

Ruing the recent report, where Nagaland topped the rank on states’ most dependent on central government funds, he said, “It is time to change our mindset and stand on our own without solely depending on the government for funds.” Stressing on the importance of dignity of labour, he exhorted the youth to work diligently in any work entrusted to them.

Citing the fact that every year a large chunk of State’s resources goes into construction works, where migrant labourers from outside the state are mostly employed, he stated that it was “high time” that the youth take up jobs in construction of buildings also. This, he observed, will not only benefit them but also the state economy in the long run.

He advised the youth, not to be gullible but be shrewd in any matter that they undertake.

Also stating that sanitation is a major factor for development, he pointed to the need for keeping the village clean and suggested the construction of an incinerator in the village and encouraged the use of biodegradable products. He mentioned that Viswema is one of the cleanest villages in the State and commended the VYO for it.

Quoting the former US President, John F. Kennedy, “ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country,” he exhorted the youth to work hard and contribute to the society.

The session was chaired by Viswema Youth Organisation President, Visakho Kiso. A folk song was presented by K-Khel, Viswema village.
